Oei Hok San is a former of soldier student in Kediri, East Java. He's the son of Oei Djing Swan, a Chinese people who instruct Tan Bun Yin to kill a Dutch Commander as an act of revenge for had shoot Doctor Tan Ping Djian.

During a war of Independece at 1945-1949, many fighters from Chinese involved in battle against Dutch on front lines, back lines, or a Dutch occupation areas. They're found in various areas like East Java, Central Java, West Java, Jakarta, Sumatera, and another areas in Indonesia.

Ardian Purwoseputro who was active in making historical documenter in East Java admitted that among the elders of the East Java TP and TRIP, many Chinese commanders were involved in the frontline struggle in the East Java Front.

The struggle in Tulung Agung is one example. Oei Hok San tells that his father Oei Djing Swan ordered a fighter named Tan Bun Yin to take revenge on a Major KL (Koninlijk Leger) who shot dead Doctor Tan Ping Djiang, a republican who opposed the Dutch when Clash II happened in 1949. Doctor Tan is a woman The Dutch ordered the Dutch commander to inform HJ van Mook that Indonesia and Asia are independent. "Tell van Mook, the Dutch please withdraw from Indonesia," Hok San said imitating the doctor Tan Ping Djiang.

Finally, Doctor Tan was shot dead by the Dutch soldier from Princess Irene Brigade. Subsequently, the Dutch Major who ordered the execution of Doctor Tan, was shot at close range in the New Restaurant inside Tulung Agung City to the west of the square by a young Tan Bun Yin young man on the orders of Hok San's father.

When the Dutch occupied Tulung Agung, a cleansing action against elements of Republikein took place. Javanese and Chinese youths who fought were gathered at the OTB Warehouse, Perca Shop and Kobong Warehouse. They were bombarded by Dutch soldiers there. Not a monument was established for them.

Oei Hok San after the recognition of sovereignty joined the 507-Sikatan Battalion. He joined the RMS crackdown in Ambon, the eradication of DI-TII in Makassar and West Java until Operation Mandala-Trikora was West Irian.
